After suffering a major data breaches, Yahoo is looking to settle a class action lawsuit, and that could put between $100 and $358 in the pockets of people whose accounts were impacted.
Yahoo has established a website for people who want to enter a claim and see if they’re included in the $117.5 million settlement.
In order to qualify, people must have had a qualifying Yahoo account between 2012 and 2016. Qualifying accounts include Yahoo Mail, Fantasy Sports, Finance, Tumblr and Flickr.
People have until July 20, 2020 to file a claim. The actual payout amounts could be substantially less than the website says they will. Claimants in that case were told they’d receive $125 each.
Yahoo says claimants can receive two years of credit monitoring from AllClearID or a cash settlement.
If anyone suffered expenses associated with the breach, Yahoo is offering up to $25,000 in reimbursement for documented cases.
