A 34 year old woman, along with her two minor daughters were charred to death in a car on the busy Akshardham flyover on Sunday night. The woman’s family alleged a foul play, and accused the husband of murdering her.
Upender the woman’s husband took his wife Anjana Mishra, and their three daughters for an outing in a Datsun Go car. The family was returning from the Kalkaji temple when their CNG-fitted vehicle caught fire. The woman’s husband with one of his daughter managed to escape while his wife and two daughters were trapped in the burning car.
Braj Kishore Dixit, a cousin of the deceased, claimed Upender never took his wife for an outing in the 13 years of their marriage, Dixit said “Suddenly he made a trip which is not digestible for us. He had started torturing her after their first daughter was born as he wanted to have a boy and not a girl. We believe that it is not an accident. It was a planned murder and we urged police to investigate the matter, especially the car. We want justice for Anjana.”
Relatives of the woman also alleged that Anajali was a victim to domestic abuse and harassment after marriage.
The couple Upender and Anjali married in 2005, hailed from Etah.
The police said that a probe was underway and they were waiting for the post mortem report.
