US ready to strike 52 Iranian sites if Tehran attacks

On Saturday President Trump vowed military action against Iran if it “strikes any Americans, or American assets”.

In a three part tweet Trump wrote, “We have … targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture” and “if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets… Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD.”

Trump reiterated his warning in a series of tweets early Sunday, saying the United States just spent $2 trillion on military equipment.

“We are the biggest and by far the BEST in the World! If Iran attacks an American Base, or any American, we will be sending some of that brand new beautiful equipment their way…and without hesitation!,” he tweeted. “They attacked us, & we hit back. If they attack again, which I would strongly advise them not to do, we will hit them harder than they have ever been hit before!”

His blistering warning came hours after Tehran pinpointed 35 “key US targets” for attack in response to its top general being wiped out in a Pentagon drone strike.

Trump’s attack coincidently came on the same day rockets were fired near the US Embassy in Baghdad and at an airbase housing American troops.

The two attacks came just before chanting mourners greeted the body of General Qasem Soleimani when it landed back in his home country.

There are not believed to be any injuries after the rockets fell at the embassy compound – in the Iraqi capital’s green zone – and near Iraq’s Balad airbase.

Missiles also rained down on Baghdad’s Jadriya neighbourhood – wounding five people, police said.

Yesterday Iran unfurled a red flag as a clear warning it is ready to fulfil its worrying pledge to strike back at America and Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Hezbollah has also now told Iraqi soldiers to leave US bases.

The Islamic political and militant group also warned Iraqi soldiers to stay at least 1,000 meters away from American military bases from Sunday onwards.
