As the death toll in the United States reached 108, 334, President Trump said “this horrible pandemic is largely through”.
“We’ve made every decision correctly,” Trump said on his adminstration’s handling of the virus at a press briefing. “We made a big step in our comeback,” the US president added.
The US president called for “blanket lockdown” to end in states amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The President said the new jobs numbers were “the greatest comeback in American history” after the US Labour Department reported the country gained 2.5 million jobs in May.
“I think we are going to actually be back higher next year than ever before, and the only thing that can stop us is bad policy,” the president said.
According to the Labour Department, the unemployment rate dropped to 13.3 per cent even as the virus continues to spread.
“I am so stunned. I’ve never seen numbers like this and I’ve been doing this for 30 years!, the US president said in a tweet, adding,”these number are incredible.
