China’s top social media platform TikTok lost over 15 million users after a two week ban in the India.
The Indian Government asked telecom operators to ban the Chinese billion dollar tech giant Bytendance’s TikTok after a court ruling in April.
The application was withdrawn from Google’s play store and Apple’s App Store.
The app was banned in April after the Madras High Court ruled that the application exposes children to sexual predators, pornographic content and cyberbullying. TikTok later appealed the decision, saying it had cracked down on inappropriate content, and the court reversed its ruling.
TikTok has had a big success so far amassing more than 120 million users in India since it launched in 2016.
However the two week ban put the company in a revenue loss of over US$ 500,000 per day, and lost downloads growth by over 33 percent as per a Sensor Tower report.
