Two top bankers survive Pakistan passenger plane crash

The PIA PK 8303, coming from Lahore which crashed carrying around 100 people onboard that crashed over a residential colony moments before landing at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi has reported survivors.

Zafar Masood, CEO Bank of Punjab, has survived in the Karachi plane crash. As per the list of passengers on the flight, Zafar Masood was travelling on seat number 1C. The BOP president has been shifted to the Darul Sehat Hospital after being recovered from the crash site and is reportedly out of danger.

Another passenger who has survived the crash is Khalid Sherdil, who was travelling on seat number 1F.

Khalid Sherdil is the CEO of the Urban Unit – a public sector company in Pakistan. In the past, Sherdil has also served as Director-General Punjab Disaster Management Authority.

A young man, named Ammar Rashid – seat no 20F, has also survived the crash. His family has confirmed the news on social media. Mohammed Zubir, seated on 8F, has also survived the crash and has been admitted to a hospital.

Mohammad Zubair also gave a statement in which he said that the plane started wobbling as it approached the Karachi airport. “The next moment there was a hard crash and I lost consciousness,” said Zubair, adding that when he woke up there was ‘smoke everywhere’.

The hospital administration said that Zubair faced minor injuries and is currently under treatment at the burns ward.

Reports indicated that the plane”s tail-end hit the ground first and that anyone who survived was seated in the front portion.

66 people are confirmed dead in the crash while rescue operations are still underway.
