Trump serves fast food to football team

President Donald Trump hosted the national college football champions from Clemson University on Monday night at the White House.

The White House said that the President personally paid for all the food as the catering staff were sent on leave after the on going government shutdown.

The US President Donald Trump tweeted that he bought 300 hamburgers, pizzas and many, many french fries.

President Trump’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said —

“Because the Democrats refuse to negotiate on border security, much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed — so the president is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone’s favourite fast foods.”

The ongoing shutdown has entered the 25th day. Over 800,000 public sector workers, including White House residence staff have been on leave or have been working without pay.

President Trump refuses to approve the federal budget without getting US$ 5.7 billion for the wall at the border between the United States and Mexico.

More than quarter of the federal government remains closed and employees such as air traffic controllers and Secret Service agents will continue to work without pay until a spending plan is agreed.
