The US President Donald Trump and North Korean chairman Kim Jong Un together had dinner at the Metropole Hotel, Hanoi Vietnam a day before their bilateral meeting.

This is the second meeting between the US President and North Korean leader.

Trump-Kim First Handshake at the Hanoi Summit

The two leaders first clasped hands and posed in front of flags smiling as members from the press click pictures. 

Trump said he looked forward to a "very successful" summit.

To which Kim said "we have been able to overcome all the obstacles and here we are today."

Again in response, Trump said "it's an honor to be with Chairman Kim, it's an honor to be together in Vietnam. It's great to be with you, we had a very successful first summit. Some people wanted to see it go quicker, but I was very happy with how we are doing."

30 Minute Sit Down 

Then both the leaders had a sit down for a close to 30 minutes before dinner. Again speaking to the members of the press after the brief meeting Kim said the "outside world" has "misunderstood" the US-North Korean relationship in the period after the Singapore summit. He hopes that the Hanoi summit delivers "an outcome welcome by everyone."

The Dinner

Then both the leaders Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un shared a relaxed meal together.Seated at a round table with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Trump asked photographers to make him and Kim "look good" in their photos.

Trump said, "We’re going to have a very busy day tomorrow,"  adding later "Our relationship is a very special relationship."
