Terror accused Pragya Thakur calls Nathuram Godse “Patriot” in Parliament

Terror accused BJP MP Pragya Thakur once again called Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a “deshbhakt” or patriot during a debate in parliament.

She made the remark in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, when DMK’s A Raja cited a statement of Nathuram Godse on why he killed Mahatma Gandhi, Pragya Thakur interrupted and said, “You cannot give example of a deshbhakt.”

Her comments triggered a protest by members of the opposition.

While opposition members protested against Pragya Thakur’s “deshbhakt” comment, BJP members asked her to sit down. When asked by reporters to clarify her remarks, Pragya Thakur simply said, “Listen to what I said first. I’d reply tomorrow.”

She earlier called Nathuram Godse a “deshbhakt” during campaigning for this year’s Lok Sabha elections. Her remarks drew severe backlash forcing, even forcing her boss, the Prime Minister to condemn her.
