Sri Lanka walked away with a win in the world cups by defeating Afghanistan by 34 runs. The game was interrupted by rain and ultimately the Duckworth Lewis method shorten the game.
Earlier when Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib won the toss and opted to bowl first against Sri Lanka under heavy skies at Cardiff.
The Sri Lankan batting lineup suffered a massive collapse against Afghanistan as Afghans Mohammad Nabi claimed three wickets in five balls in the Cardiff cricket ground.
Sri Lanka made a bright start under heavy skies, passing the 100 mark in the 15th over and cruising at 144 for one. But the off-spinner Nabi, who removed Dimuth Karunaratne earlier, returned to create panic in the Sri Lankan ranks, taking three wickets in an over.
Nabi bowled Lahiru Thirimanne for 25 before having Kusal Mendis caught by Rahmat Shah in the slips for two runs. Angelo Mathews was next to go, for a duck, also caught by Shah.
The game was already reduced to 41 overs per team after the game began 72 minutes late.
