Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha was charged for cheating an event organiser.
The event organiser Pramod Sharma paid INR₹ 37 lakhs to invite Ms Sinha for a prize distribution function in New Delhi and the actress had also confirmed her presence, but she did not turn up.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Moradabad Ravindra Gaud said, “The investigating officer in the case had served a notice to Sinha and the four others, but after not getting a response an FIR was registered on Friday.”
The case was filed against other four people as well, they all are residents of Mumbai Abhishek, Malvika Dhumil and Edgar. The case was registered under section 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the organisers the event was to be held in the evening. The actress was expected to fly to New Delhi on a 10 am flight, but the actress cancelled the flight last moment and rescheduled it 3 pm but eventually didn’t turn up for the event.
Sonakshi Sinha’s team clarified that the organiser showed lack of commitment and claimed that remuneration wasn’t paid to Sonakshi Sinha as per the deal.
So on one side you have the organiser claiming he the paid money, and on the other hand the actress claims that she didn’t receive it. Now since the organiser has filed a police case, he must be certain that he paid has his dues for her to be available at the event.
