Several states in India on Friday witnessed massive protests over the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by two now-suspended ruling party spokespersons.
The protests turned violent in some areas. Several people were injured including policemen. Security forces fired tear gas and resorted to live firing in the air at some places.
The ruling-BJP on June 5 suspended Sharma and expelled its Delhi unit media head Naveen Kumar Jindal as the row over their derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad escalated with protests.
