Singles tennis star Serena Williams crashes out of the Australian Open. The 23 time Grand Slam winner’s Australian Open expedition ended against Karolina Pliskova in the quarterfinals.
Serena was leading 5-1 in the final set and was on course for a semi-final appearance, but her rival Plisokova won the last 6 games defeating Serena 4-6, 6-4, 5-7.
“I think she improved her game in the second set, just got her shots and she was playing very well. She was more aggressive, I played too passive. But she got shaky in the end and I took my chances,” Karolina Pliskova after the match.
This is Pliskova maiden semis berth, and she will face Japan’s Naomi Osaka in the semis.
Naomi Osaka’s dream run continues as she is two matches away from her second grand slam title. Osaka earlier won the US Open in 2018.
