Indian origin senator Kamala Harris will run for the 2020 Presidential Elections against Donald Trump. Ms. Kamala is 54, daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India. She is a strong critic of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
Ms. Harris appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America and released a campaign video she said, “Let’s do this, together. Let’s claim our future. For ourselves, for our children, and for our country.”
Her announcement falls on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader.
Kamala Harris has become popular with liberal activists for her tough questioning of Trump administration including the appointment of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Her campaign would focus on reducing high cost of living with a middle-class tax credit, pursue immigration and criminal justice changes, and healthcare for all. Her slogan is “For the People”.
Harris earlier made history in 2016 for being the first black woman elected to the U.S. Senate from California.
She is the 5th entry from the Democrats to challenge Trump making it a crowded Democrat battle.
