Seemanchal Express derails in Bihar

Seven killed and Twenty-four others were injured in Sunday morning train derailment. The incident occured with the Seemanchal Express that was bound to Delhi, in Bihar’s Vaishali district.

The incident occurred at 4am early Sunday morning. Prima facie the derailment was caused by a rail fracture.

A team of NDRF personnel are at the spot for the rescue operations, an accident relief train has been sent to the site of the mishap.




Passengers with serious injuries were rushed to hospitals in Muzaffarpur and Patna. Team of doctors too have rushed to the accident site.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced INR₹ 5 lakh ex gratia each to the kin of those killed, INR₹ 1 lakh each to the grievously injured people and INR₹ 50,000 each to those who received minor injuries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi have expressed grief and condolences to families.
