Saina Nehwal Won Indonesia Masters Title After Carolina Marin’s Shocking Exit

Saina Nehwal won the Indonesia Masters title as after her opponent Carolina Marin retired hurt during the first game of the final on Sunday. At the time of the injury Marin was leading 10-4.

Marin had suffered an injury in her right thigh, which exaggerated to a point where she had to leave the contest midway. Saina reached the final after defeating China’s He Bingjiao.

Saina recalled her injury after watching Martin get injured. This is what the 28 year old said —

“It is important year for all of us. This was not good at all. She is a tough competitor, she started off well and it is unfortunate what happened today.”

“I just came out of injury. I played this events to see how good is this. and I’m happy I could play the semifinals at Malaysia and final here. Looking forward to get back to shape and play next tournament.”

“I have been getting injured in the last few years. I always try to come back stronger, there is no secret. I want to thank physios and coaches who are supporting me a lot.”
