A match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals was abandoned after rains played spoilsport on Tuesday. When the game was going the Rajasthan way, the rain gods above Chinnaswamy decided to spill and share the points between the two.
After continual rains, the umpires stripped down the game to a five over play. Rajasthan who won the toss and decided to send RCB to set a target. The Royals limited the Challengers to 62/7 in their allotted five overs. Virat Kohli started off with a bang smashing 25 runs off 7 balls, however he eventually fell to the Royals leg spinner Shreyas Gopal. Gopal took a memorable hattrick bringing the Royals back into the game by dismissing Kohli, de Villiers and Stoinis.
The visitors when got out to chase the target, Samson and Livingstone got the bulk of the runs. The rains returned to Chinnaswamy when RR were at 41 for one in 3.2 overs. Sanju Samson finished at 28 being the top scorer for the Royals.
The match gave RR and RCB one point each, the no result keeps Royals mathematically alive in the tournament as they have 11 points from 13 games with one match to go. However, the draw ended all hopes of RCB’s progressing in the tournament.
