A day after US President Donald Trump and Indian PM Narendra Modi addressed the gala event of ‘Howdy, Modi’ in Houston— President Trump met with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
Addressing the media with Imran Khan, Trump praised the ‘Howdy, Modi’ mega rally in presence of Khan and said PM Modi made “very aggressive statements” at the event and which was received well within the huge crowd of Indian-Americans.
“It was very well received within the room,” Trump said, referring to the gathering of 50,000 people at the NRG Stadium in Houston.
The US president once again said that he was ready to turn mediator between Pakistan and India to help solve the Kashmir issue, as both sides called him “an extremely good arbitrator”.
“I have very good relationship with Prime Minister Modi. I have very good relationship with Prime Minister Khan…I would be an extremely good arbitrator. I have never failed as an arbitrator,” Trump told reporters.
PM Imran Khan appealed to Trump seeking help in Pakistan’s troubles with India, Afghanistan and Iran. “The most powerful country in the world has a responsibility,” Khan said.
Meanwhile, India has strongly objected to any form of 3rd party mediation and maintained that Kashmir was a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan.
