The campaign is a new political slogan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and was mostly created to counter the oppositions jibe “Chowkidar Chor Hai” (the watchman is a thief).
The Prime Minister has often said in public meetings that he is a “Chowkidar” (watchman) of the nation.
The opposition have targeted the Prime Minister for corruption on the Rafale deal, demonetisation.. etc.
As part of the video campaign, the Prime Minister urged people to join a programme on the 31th of March which is titled “Main bhi Chowkidar”.
One would ask what happen to the earlier Urdu slogan, “Namumkin Ab Mumkin Hai” (impossible is possible now).
