PM Modi expresses anger over Akash Vijayvargiya’s bat assault on civic official

PM Narendra Modi has condemned the incident where a BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya was seen beating up a civic official with a cricket bat during a demolition drive in Indore on June 26th.

Narendra Modi, expressed anger over the incident while addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meet in New Delhi. He said this sort of behaviour is not acceptable and those who encourage such behaviour should also be sacked.

The prime minister said he did not care whose son Akash is and that such people should be sacked from the party. “I don’t care whose son was behind the incident, it was completely unwarranted and not acceptable,” PM Modi told BJP MPs in the party meeting.

He further went on to slam those who went to facilitate him after being released from jail on Sunday.

Akash Vijayvargiya is first time MLA from Indore/3 belongs to the the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), his father Kailash Vijayvargiya is the BJP’s National General Secretary. He was caught on TV cameras assaulting municipal officer Dhirendra Singh Bais with a cricket bat last Wednesday while opposing demolition of a dilapidated house.

A magistrate’s court had sent him to judicial custody till July 11 after his arrest, denying him bail. However, he was granted bail on Saturday by a special court in Bhopal and was released from jail on Sunday. Upon coming out of jail, Akash Vijayvargiya was greeted by celebratory firing at his office in Indore. After video of the firing went viral, a case was registered in Indore.
