PM Modi conducts roadshow in Varanasi, joins Ganga aarti a day before he files nominations

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi reached Varanasi, the Lok Sabha seat from where he’ll contest for the second time as a member of parliament (MP). Mr. Modi dressed in a saffron kurta and a scarf, waved to thousands of people lined across the roads through the sunroof of a luxury SUV.

PM Modi began his roadshow from the famous Banaras Hindu University, where he paid tribute at a statue of Madan Mohan Malviya a leader of the independence movement and a renowned educationist.

The roadshow then took him through ancient temples and ghats. The entire show of strength lasted for over two and a half hours, the prime minister also attended the evening aarti at a ghat on the banks of the river Ganga.

Tomorrow, Mr. Modi will file his nomination papers at the collectorate office.

The BJP president Amit Shah, top Union Ministers and Chief Ministers, including Yogi Adityanath, accompanied PM Modi as the convoy ran through the holy town in snail pace.

Meanwhile, the Congress party ended all the controversy after they fielded Ajay Rai to fight against Mr. Modi. Earlier, there was some speculation about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra taking on PM Modi in the city.

On Friday, the Prime Minister is expected to address a gathering of BJP workers before visiting the famous Kal Bhairav temple in the city. He will then visit the city’s collectorate to file his nomination papers.
