Paris Apartment Fire Kills 10 People

Ten people died after a blaze swept through an apartment building in central Paris, about 37 people were injured. The fire started maliciously, and the police have arrested a 40 year old women who lived in the building with psychological problems immediately after the blaze was discovered.

Firefighter expect to discover more dead as the top two floors of the eight story structure was still on fire. The fire started after midnight at 1 am, residents were caught fleeing to roof top after seeing the massive fire.

As many as 30 people were rescued from roof tops using ladders. The interior ministry and the Paris mayor inspected the scenes.




The building complex hosted at least 50 apartments and the building was very difficult for fire ambulances to access. By early morning 4 am the building was cleared and 250 firefighters were putting out the blaze.

The apartment complex called 16th arrondissement is located west of the city center. It has the view of the Eiffel Tower, the Roland Garros stadium that hosts the French Open tennis tournament and the soccer team Paris Saint Germain’s home ground.
