Over 120 office bearers quit Congress party posts in support for Rahul Gandhi

About 123 office bearers of the Congress party across the country have tendered their resignation to give a free hand to Rahul Gandhi to churn the party after their disastrous performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

The series of resignations started after, Vivek Tankha, a Rajya Sabha member who quit the party post. Following Mr. Tankha two working presidents of the party in Delhi and Telangana too put down their papers.

Many sent out their resignations as blackmail in order to see  Mr. Gandhi continue at the helm of the party.

Gandhi’s resignation has not been accepted by the party. But he has refused to reconsider despite repeated appeals. A final decision is expected to be taken at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee that’s being planned.

Vivek Tankha, a Rajya Sabha member wrote on twitter, “We all should submit our resignations from party positions and give Rahul-ji a free hand to choose his team. I welcome Mr Kamal Nath”s statement to that effect. I unequivocally submit my resignation as AICC Dept chairman Law, RTI and HR. Party cannot afford a stalemate for too long.”

“Rahul-ji please make drastic changes to revive the party as a fighting force. You have the commitment and determination. Just cobble a good, acceptable and influential nationwide team. I am with you in all situations,” he added.
