Activists Anna Hazare is on an indefinite hunger strike since six days at Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar.
Anna Hazare is an anti-corruption crusader and the face of the Jan Lokpal movement. He has been demanding for the appointment of anti-corruption watchdogs at the Centre, as well as in the state of Maharashtra and has demanded for a quick resolution on farmer issues.
Doctors have advised Mr. Hazare to give up his fast owing to his ill health and age. Anna is eighty-one-years old.
Anna Hazare today said that, “The BJP used me in 2014. Everybody knows that it was my agitation for Lokpal that catapulted the BJP and also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to power. Now I have lost all regards for them.”
Anna also targeted the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said Mr. Modi was misleading the country and leading the nation to autocracy. Anna claims that the BJP-led Maharashtra government was lying for the past four years by claiming that 90% of his demands were fulfilled.
Yesterday, Girish Mahajan a minister in the Maharashtra state Government met social activist Anna Hazare with a letter from Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Popular voice of the Marathi people, MNS chief Raj Thackeray extended full support to his agitation and asked him not to sacrifice his life for the “useless” government.
Anna Hazare threatened to give up his national award Padma Bhushan if his demands were not met by the government soon.
(The Pigeon Express Opinion– Firstly, why should Anna be bound or worried for the nation that too at the age of eight-one? The level of patriotism that runs in this his blood would be in insane amounts.
Anna has sacrificed much of his life towards public service, as an activist. He has a strong bond with the young mostly because of his thoughts and ideas. I believe that Anna’s work is highly underrated and is way above any awards. He has been a role model for nation building, and he should be heard more often in fact.)
