Nick Cannon has issued an apology after announcing that he’s set to become a father for the 8th time.
Earlier this week, Nick revealed that he and model Bre Tiesi are set to welcome a baby boy this year, confirming the news on his TV talk show.
Nick has since apologised for making the announcement in the way he did, with it coming less than two months after he and Alyssa Scott lost their 5-month-old son Zen to a brain tumour.
Speaking on his show, Nick said “I actually would like to take a moment just to be honest and even take a moment to listen and reflect on what I was saying and what’s popping and apologize properly.”
“I wish to always protect and respect the privacy of the mothers of all my children and you know me. I just really want to be sincere and whether that’s someone who’s new or someone who’s had my child and I have such a great relationship and great admiration for everyone in my life,” he continued. “I believe I probably, no, I failed to do so on Monday because it was a lot going on. I didn’t know how to explain it, I didn’t know what to say, so I was probably talking too fast and probably misspoke and I know I could do better when dealing with delicate and sensitive discussions.”
He stated, “So I promise you, I promise the mothers of my children, I promise my family that I would do better, continue to be more understanding, caring, compassionate like they often show me, each and every day through these processes.”
Nick’s apology comes after Zen’s mother Alyssa spoke about the situation on her Instagram stories.
She said “It is painful having my son be a part of conversations that aren’t in alignment with his light and legacy. It isn’t something I chose for him or myself.”
Elsewhere this week, Nick opened up about his celibacy decision, which was prompted by the news that he was to become a dad again.
Revealing he felt he was ‘out of control,’ Nick said “My therapist was one of the people who said I should probably be celibate and the reason why is because I had shared that news about Bre being pregnant… That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then. So for anyone who’s thinking, ‘Oh he wasn’t celibate,’ I was!”
He explained, “I felt like I was out of control and honestly, celibacy did help me through the journey of getting one with myself and being able to deal with this.”
