NDRF Teams Join Rescue Operations In Dharwad Building Collapse

The death toll in the multi story building collapse in Dharwad has risen to 3. So far 53 people that were trapped under the rubble were rescued.

A 35 member NDRF team have joined the rescue operations, late Tuesday evening. The exact count of the people in the building at the time of the collapse is still not known. Some reports suggest close to 140 people were there in those 60 shops that were in operational.

One more NDRF team from Ghaziabad arrived in Bengaluru on March 20 to step up the rescue operations.




The collapse took place in Dharwad’s Kumareshwar Nagar which is 400 kilometres north of Bangalore.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy summoned the Chief Secretary to supervise rescue operations, and also permitted critically injured patients to be airlifted to Bangalore.
