Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja Dons a Space Theme Following India’s Chandrayaan-2 Lunar Mission

Mumbai’s iconic Ganpati idol Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled on Friday. This time the organisers have chosen the India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 as the theme.

The famous stall has a huge number of devotees gathered to watch the unveiling of the first look of the famous Ganesh idol held at Lalbaug market in Parel. The event was also live-streamed on the official Twitter handle of Lalbaugcha Raja.

The theme designed by Nitin Desai has two artificial astronauts hanging around the big spacecraft hovering above the Ganesh Idol.

In the 10 day long festival, the Lalbaugcha Raja would witness thousands of visitors. From celebrities, to politicians all reach the iconic Ganpati idol every year. On the final day of the festivities the idol would be immersed into the Arabian Sea.

This tradition has been going on every year since 1934.
