Mumbai Indians humiliate Chennai Super Kings by 46 runs at Chepauk

Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 46 runs to jump to the second spot on the IPL points table with 14 points from 11 games. Skipper Rohit Sharma hit his maiden half century for the season in the IPL match in Chennai on Friday. Mumbai ended Chennai’s winning streak of five games at home of the season.

Rohit who top scored for Mumbai Indians with 67 runs off 48 balls to post a total of 155 in the slow Chepauk track. Sri Lankan veteran bowler Lasith Malinga bundled out CSK for 109 in 17.4 overs, picking up four wickets. Besides Malinga, Krunal Pandya grabbed 2/7 in 3 overs, while  Jasprit Bumrah got 2/10 in three overs.

For Chennai Super Kings, Murali Vijay was the top scorer with 38 from 35 deliveries. Dwayne Bravo and Mitchell Santner were the only other batsmen of the home team to reach double figures accumulating, 20 and 22 respectively. Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina failed yet again. Kedar Jadhav’s poor form continued as well.

MS Dhoni was ruled out of the match due to fever, hence Suresh Raina once again wore the captains hat. Also, Faf du Plessis and Ravindra Jadeja missed out and Santner, Murali Vijay and Dhruv Shorey came in.
