A mother called up the cops after her son refused to go to school in Telangana. The incident has gone viral on social media.
The incident was reported in Jadcharla of Mahabubnagar, where a woman dialed 100 ast week and asked the on-duty cop to reach her house urgently. A patrol vehicle was immediately rushed to the location hearing the message.
On reaching the her residence, the cops were in for a surprise. She requested the cops for some assistance to send her son to school, who has been hiding in the house and refused to attend classes.
Though the men in uniform were irritated at first, later they understood the situation and counselled the child. The child was later dropped to the school in a police vehicle.
However, the act hasn’t gone down well with child rights activists. They raised objections over police counselling a minor child at the police station.
“Instead of enquiring why the child is reluctant and what are the issues he is facing, he was called to the police station. This is atrocious. This is the second such incident in the state and if this becomes a tradition, it is dangerous. While police may get some appreciation for such acts, this will put the children in trauma. Police should know the problems of the child and then arrange the professional help to sort out the issues,”an activist Achyuta Rao told India Today.
