Modi and Xi explore Mahabalipuram sipping coconut water

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping for their second informal summit in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu on Friday.

Couple of hours after President Xi arrived in Chennai, PM Modi and his counterpart took off on a tour to visit the holy shrines of Mahabalipuram.

The two of them visited Arjuna’s Penance, Pancha Rathas and the Shore Temple. They also watched a cultural programme with Shore temple as the backdrop.

PM Modi was seen wearing traditional attire of the Tamil people a veshti and a white shirt. While the visiting foreign leader wore a white shirt and black pant.

A free wheeling meeting between PM Modi and President Xi would take place on Saturday morning.

The Indian Prime Minister will host President Xi for lunch and dinner with local Tamil cuisine and hold delegation level talks as well.

The two leaders will have six hours of one-on-one talks. It’s expected that the two leaders talk terrorism, specially what Pakistan nurtures. Trade, defence  and border issues could be other matters for discussion.

Another key issue up for  talks would be Jammu and Kashmir. China have somewhat remained neutral and not picked either Pakistan nor India on the matter. However, China has repeatedly asked for both nations to resolve the situation through peaceful dialogue.
