Mizoram Governor Quits, May Contest Polls From Thiruvananthapuram In BJP Ticket

The President of India Ramnath Kovind accepted the resignation of Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan.

The President’s office has asked the Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi to discharge the functions of the Governor of Mizoram, in addition to his own duties, until the state of Mizoram gets a permanent full time Governor.

Kummanam Rajasekharan is from Kerala, and was Kerala BJP president until last year. There are speculations that Mr.Rajasekharan will be the BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

“I have resigned as the party wished that I should be in Kerala. I also wished to be in Kerala and hence I have quit,” Kummanam Rajasekharan told Kerala TV channels.

The current BJP President in the state of Kerala PS Sreedharan Pillai welcomed this news, he said “This is happy news for the BJP and Sangh Parivar forces.”
