Man hunt for Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie has led to discovery of seven human remains

The hunts for both Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie have led to a number of bodies being found in recent weeks in the United States.

At least seven bodies have been found amid the searches for Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie as missing persons cases receive renewed interest and attention across the US.

A massive search began on September 11 when Petito was reported missing, with her body being found in Wyoming on September 19.

This led to a manhunt for her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, who had been named a person of interest in her disappearance and death - but had himself disappeared.

The FBI on confirmed on Thursday that the remains found in Carlton Reserve in North Port belonged to that of Laundrie. Law enforcement also found some of Laundrie’s personal items in the reserve, including a backpack, a notebook, a dry bag and some clothing.

It turns out that in the huge search for Laundrie, a number of other bodies belonging to other people reported missing have also been found.

The seventh body was found this week of a woman who went missing near an area in Colorado where Laundrie visited with his fiancée Gabby Petito in early July.

At least four other people have been found dead under suspicious circumstances during that period near areas where police were searching for him or Ms Petito.

An additional two bodies found before Laundrie disappeared were initially probed as potentially being linked to the case because they were discovered near where he was road-tripping with Ms Petito.

The other bodies include a married couple found murdered in Utah, a man who died by suicide in a Wyoming swamp, and remains found during a search for a woman who disappeared in a California desert in June.

Authorities have loosely linked three of the body recoveries to the Laundrie case – including the man who killed himself in Wyoming.

They said that recovery was the result of a spike in tips to police amid the search for Ms Petito.

Investigators in Utah also said they were “not ruling out” a potential link between the Laundrie case and the murder of the married couple in August.
