A man who stayed at a luxury hotel for over 100 days fled without paying the bill.
The Taj Banjara hotel in Hyderabad filed a police complaint against Shankar Narayan, a businessman from Visakhapatnam. Narayan owed the star hotel 1.2 million Indian rupees.
According to the hotel the man stayed in a luxury suite for 102 days. He paid 1.3 million rupees off the total 2.5 million bill. The man allegedly left the hotel in April this year without informing anyone.
The hotel staff then contacted the man who promised to clear the remaining bill. However, he later switched off his phone after which the hotel manager approached the Banjara Hills police station to lodge a complaint.
Sub-Inspector P. Ravi said: “We have registered a case on the complaint by the hotel management and launched investigations.”
The businessman however has reportedly claimed that he checked out only after settling the bill. Alleging that his reputation was being tarnished, Narayan said that he was contemplating legal action against the hotel.
