Political strategist Prashant Kishor to work with Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress for the 2021 West Bengal assembly election as per reports on Thursday. An agreement has been signed between Prashant Kishor and the TMC.
The development broke shortly after Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with Prashant Kishor.
The meeting between the two lasted for over two hours. Prashant Kishor was accompanied by Abhishek Banerjee. As per reports, Kishor will start working with the West Bengal CM from June, next month.
The TMC is facing a challenging opposition in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who managed to expand its seat share in West Bengal from 2 in 2014 to 18 in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections that just concluded. TMC wants to take Kishore’s assistance to augment its strategy to counter BJP ahead of 2021 state polls.
Prashant Kishor is deeply credited for handling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He also delivered Bihar in 2015 assembly elections to Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan, recently he was successful for Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh.
