Kumaraswamy returns to witness the rebel MLAs ‘nataka’

The dissenting lawmakers from Karnataka are firm on their resignations as they cooped up at a swanky 5 star Mumbai hotel. While speaking to the press today, Congress MLA ST Somashekar said that there was no question of 13 MLAs going back to Bengaluru and withdrawing the resignations.

Over the past couple of days close to 14 MLAs of the ruling Congress-JDS coalition have resigned.

MEanwhile, the Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy also landed in Bangalore on Sunday evening and held a meeting with his party legislators and leaders to discuss the crisis. Earlier during the day,  state Congress leader DK Shivakumar met HD Deve Gowda at his residence on Sunday.

Karnataka Congress has called a meeting of the party MLAs on Tuesday (July 9). A circular was issued this afternoon which says that strict action will be taken against those who do not attend the Tuesday meeting. The meeting will start at 9.30 am. Congress leader KC Venugopal and Dinesh Gundu Rao will also be present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi accused the Congress for “plotting drama” so that “greedy” Siddaramaiah could be made the chief minister. While, the Congress have levid allegations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was behind the political crisis in Karnataka.

If none of the MLAs withdraw their resignation there could be nothing stopping the 13-month-old Congress-JDS coalition government to fall in Karnataka.
