A senior cop was killed, and three soldiers were injured in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir.
Three terrorists were killed until now and the operations are still underway by the army, police and CRPF.
Security forces received information about presence of terrorists in the area, the forces reached the site and cordoned off the area for search operations. The terrorists open fired looking at the security forces.
The encounter location is 68 kilometers away from the Srinagar.

Police Deputy Superintendent Aman Kumar Thakur sacrificed his life while leading the police team from the front in the encounter against the terrorists. The Superintendent belonged to the 2011 batch of officers from Jammu and Kashmir Police Services and was posted in Kulgam for the last two years.
After the Pulwama attacks on 14th of February the government of India sent around 10,000 soldiers of various paramilitary forces to Jammu and Kashmir. The situation in the state remains tense and worrisome.
