Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Kings XI Punjab By 7 Wickets, Knocking Punjab Out Of IPL 2019

Kolkata Knight Riders knocked out Kings XI Punjab from the IPL 2019, after defeating them by seven wickets to stay afloat on Friday. Knight Riders who were chasing the target, got Chris Lynn to anchor the innings. Lynn got 46 off 22 balls, and then later 19 year old Shubham Gill whacked 65 from 49 balls to take his side to the win. KKR reached the target of 184 in 18 overs, hence improving their run-rate.

KKR have 12 points, they face Mumbai Indians in a must win game on Sunday.

The opening duo added 62 in 6 overs before Lynn was dismissed having hit five fours and two sixes.




Robin Uthappa who came in later got a quick 22 from 14 balls. Jamaican Andre Russell perished early after hitting a couple of sixes. Towards the end Kolkata skipper Dinesh Karthik entertained fans with a 9 ball 21.

Earlier, when Kings XI Punjab got out to bat first displayed fire power taking the home side to decent total of 183. Pooran smashed 48 off 27 balls, Mayank Agarwal got 36 off 26 balls and Sam Curran finished unbeaten on 55 from 24 balls.

Chris Gayle and KL Rahul were dismissed in quick succession, and cheaply. However, Pooran found partner in Agarwal. Mandeep Singh finished at 25 not out from 17 balls.



In the 19th over Andre Russell and Sam Curran’s  punished Harry Gurney, hitting him for 22 runs.
