Karunanidhi Statue – M.K. Stalin endorses RaGa as PM candidate

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party had invited the former Congress President Sonia Gandhi to unveil the statue of M. Karunanidhi in Chennai on Sunday, it was also a spectacle of a strong opposition.

The eight feet bronze statue of M. Karunanidhi with traditional black spectacles, his right hand lifted high signalling the ‘rising sun’ symbol of the DMK, was unveiled next to statue of party founder C.N. Annadurai at the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam.

In attendance was Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanaswamy at the event.

Sonia Gandhi unveiled the statue of M. Karunanidhi and praised his contribution towards Tamil Nadu. She reiterated for strong ties with the DMK in order to take down the BJP government.

Soon after the inauguration of the statue the leaders headed to the memorial of M. Karunanidhi at Marina beach to pay respects, and then addressed a mega rally.

The DMK party chief and son of Karunanidhi, M.K. Stalin attacked the policies of the Narendra Modi government and called Mr. Modi a sadist.

M.K. Stalin endorsed the Congress President Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, he said “I propose, we install a new Prime Minister in Delhi. I propose the candidature of Rahul Gandhi from Tamil Nadu.”

Rahul Gandhi, N. Chandrababu Naidu, Pinarayi Vijayan and M.K. Stalin used this opportunity to attack the ruling BJP government on a wide range of issues including RBI – CBI internal rifts, rafale, on schemes and policies of the Modi Government.
