IPL 2019: Sam Curran’s hattrick gets KXIP to a 14 run win against DC

The Kings XI Punjab pulled of a dramatic 14 run victory against Delhi Capitals in Mohali. Punjab’s Sam Curran claimed IPL 2019’s first hattrick, he picked up 4 wickets for 11 runs in 2.2 overs.

The Capitals were chasing a target of 167, finished at 152 in 19.2 overs. The Capitals lost 7 wickets for 8 runs. Their collapse started when they were at 144/3. While chasing, Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram set up what looked like an easy win. Pant grabbed 39 from 26 balls, while Ingram got 38 of 29 balls.

DC’s lower-middle was incapable of handling the movement in the air, as the ball starting reversing more. Once Pant was out, it was matter of time for rest of Delhi to head back to the stands.

Prithvi Shaw couldn’t replicate his performance, Shikhar Dhawan picked 30 off 25 balls and skipper Shreyas Iyer amasked 28 off 22 balls.

Earlier, when Punjab batted first David Miller scored 43 off 30 balls and Sarfaraz Khan got 39 runs off 29 balls. Million dollar man, Curran too scored 20 off just 10 balls. Opener KL Rahul was dismissed very cheaply. Mandeep Singh took the team past 160 run mark with a contribution of 29 no off 21 balls.

Punjab left Gayle out for this one, and it didn’t look as though they missed him.
