After 10 days into the IPL 2019 season, Rajasthan Royals script their first victory at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday. The hosts won the match by seven wickets over the Challengers, Jos Buttler star-ed for the Royals, as he scored 59 runs.
However, this was the fourth straight loss for the Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2019. Leg spinner Shreyas Gopal laid the foundation for the hosts as he bamboozled the visiting batsmen with his googlies. Gopal picked three wickets, including that of RCB’s firepower Virat Kohli on 23 and AB de Villiers on 13. He conceding just 12 runs in his four over quota.
Challengers opener Parthiv Patel hit 67 off 41 balls with nine boundaries and six to help his side put 158 for four after being sent in to bat. Marcus Stoinis joined the team to score 31 runs, while Moeen Ali got 18.
Buttler led the chase handing RCB their fourth defeat in a row. RCB dropped plenty of catches in this match, and were placed right at the bottom of eight team table without any points.
Buttler packed eight fours and a six in his second half century this IPL season.
Ajinkya Rahane and Buttler added a 60 run stand for the first wicket. Rahane was dropped on 1 by Kohli.
Jos Buttler and Steve Smith added 44 for the second wicket but Chahal struck dismissing the British batsman.
Chahal could have got Smith as well, but Umesh Yadav dropped him near the boundary line. Smith went on to add 50 runs for the third wicket with Rahul Tripathi, who finished the match with a six in the penultimate ball of the match.
