Chennai Super Kings won against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday. Captain cool MS Dhoni led from the front to score a match winning half century. With this win, MS Dhoni became the first captain to win 100 IPL matches. Friday’s game went down the wire, leading to a last ball thriller.
CSK recorded their sixth win for the season, after a successful 152 run chase. MS Dhoni led from the front and scored 58 off 43 balls, while adding a 95 run stand with Ambati Rayudu who contributed 57 from 47.
A waist high no-ball to Santner was ruled out by umpire Ulhas Gandhe, this prompted an angry Dhoni to enter the ground and literally blast Gandhe before leg umpire Bruce Oxenford calmed him and sent him back before Santner finished it off in style.
Dhawal Kulkarni got Shane Watson for a duck, while Suresh Raina was beaten by a direct throw. Faf du Plessis departed cheaply to reduce CSK to 15 for 3. Kedar Jadhav too didn’t last long.
CSK at 24 for 4, was when Dhoni walked in, he smashed the spinners for big shorts, and calmly rotated the strike with Rayudu.
During, the Rajasthan Royals batting innings, Jos Buttler got 23 off 10 balls. Ravindra Jadeja got 2/20 in his 4 overs and Mitchell Santner got 1/25 in 4 overs, checking the runs in-flow. Imran Tahir though didn’t manage a wicket but bowled well . Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane failed once again after being dismissed at 14.
Steve Smith, Rahul Tripathi struggled once again, while Ben Stokes’s 28 off 26 balls wasn’t good enough. It was Shreyas Gopal, who struck hard picking 19 off 7 balls, taking the runs past 150 for RR.
