India broke its own world record by adding another 90,632 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours and 1,065 new deaths.
With this the total number of infections tops 4.1 million and 70,626 deaths. Over 3.2 million have been cured.
Medical experts said the country was seeing a second wave of the pandemic in some parts of the country, and that case numbers have surged because of increased testing and the easing of restrictions on public movement.
The government will partially restore metro train services in the national capital of New Delhi from 7th September.
