India beat hosts Australia in the 1st Test Match

India clinch a narrow, thrilling victory on the final day at Adelaide against hosts Australia. The men in blue won the test match by 31 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the test series. This is India’s first Test victory in Australia since 2008 and lead a series in Australia for only the second time.

Jasprit Bumrah was the key man to break the partnership each time it threatened India’s chances. The last wicket Australian pair took it to themselves and brought down the total to 32 before being dismissed by R Ashwin.

In the beginning with regular wickets being picked up the target seemed out of reach, but the last three wickets put 104 runs on board, reducing India’s victory chance.

Rishabh Pant equaled the world record of 11 dismissals in a match, but one catch appeared to escape.

CA Pujara was the ‘man of the match’, he scored much needed century in the 1st innings and a half-century in the 2nd innings. Rahane and Pujara contributed the most with the bat, Indian lower order needs to buck up more in the coming test matches.

R Ashwin bowled the most number of overs for India, and maintained the lowest economy rate from the bowling line up and picked up 6 wickets in test match. Jasprit Bumrah rattled the hosts with his pace. Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami chipped in with key wickets to ensure India stayed in the game.

Kohli had plenty of praise for Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara and was satisfied with the India’s bowling performance.
