The United States is the world’s oldest democracy, and their politics just get interesting each year.
A small town in Vermont, voted a goat named Lincoln as their mayor. The town with a population of 2,500 hopes the 3 year old animal will set an example to politicians with it’s ruling.
The goat Lincoln won against 15 other rivals, who were all cats and dogs. He defeated a Sammie the dog, by 13 votes.
The goat belongs to a school teacher, and he will be guest of honor at the annual parades and fests. “Memorial Day parade, the Apple Fest and the events we organize every Friday in the summer,” Joseph Gunter the town manager said.
Gunter added that animal election was also “a good way to get the kids involved in local government.”
The mayoral term is for a period of one year.
