Goa-Delhi plane makes emergency landing after its engine catches fire

An Indigo Airlines flight with about 180 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing after its left engine caught fire.

The flight had to make a turnaround to Dabolim International Airport in Goa from where it took off. The flight was bound for Delhi.

All the passengers were safely evacuated. There were no reports of injuries.

The flight had Goa Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral, and while speaking with media he said, “The passengers saw the engine fire and soon everyone was screaming. But the pilot then turned off the engine and flew the plane on one engine and handled the situation very well.”

It’s believed that the fire was caught around 1:15pm fifteen minutes after the plane took off on Sunday.

The airline, IndiGo in this case accommodated the passengers on the next flight to Delhi after the incident.
