A Florida man was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment, neglect and battery, after he duct taped his child’s arms and legs because the 1-year-old annoyed her.
27-year-old, Daniel Smith, and his wife were at a Deltona home this weekend with other people when Smith became annoyed with his 1-year-old daughter and allegedly said, “you better shut up,” then tied her arms and feet together with duct tape.
According to witnesses, the 1-year-old was crying and in distress as she was being duct taped, before someone intervened and got the child away from Smith and cut the tape off.
When questioned by investigators, Smith told Volusia County Sheriff’s Department, that his child does not listen and “gets into stuff.”
Daniel’s wife Barbara faces accessory charges because she didn’t intervene while Smith was duct taping their child.
Investigators say the child had red marks on her wrists and ankles but was otherwise unhurt.
