In what was a victory for the ruling BJP government - the Supreme Court verdict on the Rafale dealings. Judgement report opens up another canon of worms.
The SC verdict was based on the facts presented by the Modi Government to the SC, as per the judgement copy, the pricing of the 36 Rafale jets were presented to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
However the Chairman of the PAC, leader of opposition & Congress senior leader Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge denied seeing any CAG report in the PAC meetings. Mr. Kharge said that if the CAG would've tabled the report in the PAC, then automatically the report would be in public domain.
The Congress party accused the Government of misleading the Supreme Court of India.
The PAC has summoned the CAG and his deputy for questioning.
The ruling BJP government has not commented on the CAG issue, however they fell vindicated after the Supreme Court of India had said the court won't deal with pricing comparison nor does it feel any breach of code with the inclusion of the Ambani as offset partner.
The Congress party's new allegations seem more valid after the miss at the Supreme Court, the party has demanded for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the nature of the billion dollar Rafale jet purchase.
Till now there has been a secrecy in the pricing of the rafale jets purchased, neither Indian Government nor the French Government has explained the detailed pricing structure.
