Delhi Capitals (DC) won their final IPL game in the season against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 5 wickets and 3.5 overs to spare at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi on Saturday. The win put Delhi second on the points table.
Royals bowlers, Ish Sodhi (3/26) and Shreyas Gopal (2/21) picked up early wickets making the Capitals chase look difficult. Delhi were chasing a small target of 116, however Sodi picked up Dhawan and Shaw in two consecutive balls to turn the game. Sodhi ended the innings with bowling figures 3/26 and Gopal 2/21.
Delhi opener Prithvi Shaw was gone on 8, Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer fell for 16 and 15 respectively. Colin Ingram and Rishabh Pant went out to stabilise the innings. Pant played his way in and batted with the lower order and picked up the winning runs. Rishabh Pant scored a sensible knock of 53 unbeaten.
Earlier Rajasthan Royals scored 115/9 in their 20 overs. Ishant Sharma got wickets of the Royals openers Ajinkya Rahane and Liam Livingstone in successive overs. Sanju Samson was was run out after a mixup with his partner Mahipal Lomror.
Later, Amit Mishra picked two wickets in consecutive balls, Shreyas Gopal and Stuart Binny. He could have got a hattrick but Trent Boult missed an easy catch.
Teenager, Riyan Parag anchored the Rajasthan innings. He completed 50, getting 18 runs of the final over of Ishant Sharma. He hit Trent Boult for two sixes in the 20th over to bring up his fifty, thus becoming the youngest player in IPL history to score a fifty.
