The General Secretary of HD Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular), Danish Ali made a surprise jump as he joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Lucknow today.
He was welcomed by the BSP’s senior leader Satish Chandra Mishra. Ali will most likely be fielded in a BSP ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Uttar Pradesh.
The JD (S) don’t have any presence elsewhere other than Karnataka. So, he contesting from a BSP ticket gives him more chances to win parliament seat in UP. It’s believed that this is some form of an understanding between the BSP and the JDS.
Danish Ali negotiated seat sharing between BSP-JDS in Karnataka during the state elections last year and also played a vital role in assisting seat sharing between Congress-JDS alliance few days back for the Lok Sabha polls.
Danish Ali released a statement, he said, “JDS doesn’t have a large organisational structure in UP. Despite all my efforts I could not have raised it (JDS) in my ‘janmabhoomi, my ‘karmabhoomi’….The way in which there is a threat to constitution today, it has become essential to use our energy with a strong leadership.”
Danish Ali has made his presence felt in the United Opposition rallies in West Bengal and New Delhi.
