The outbreak of the coronavirus had affected many businesses, especially when we talk about the tech companies.
In fact, it resulted in the cancellation of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 event. That’s exactly when smartphone makers came out with the solution of keeping their launch events to online platforms. Companies started saying no-no to physical events and decided to launch their latest devices via online conferences.
Therefore, OnePlus will stick to an online conference to launch its OnePlus 8 series phones in 2020. But the company recently released an official statement and called these reports a piece of fiction.
OnePlus in its official statement said: “Reports of cancelling an offline launch event due to coronavirus are false”. The statement further read: “OnePlus has a history of hosting online and offline events, globally.”
What we know about the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, 8 Lite?
This year OnePlus is expected to launch three smartphones this year. They are likely to be called OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8 Lite.
According to the hearsay, the OnePlus may offer new features like IP rating for water and dust-resistant. The OnePlus 8 lineup may arrive with support for wireless charging.
Also, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset. These smartphones could be the first ones from OnePlus to support 5G modem. Whereas, the OnePlus 8 Lite is likely to feature a mid-tier System-on-Chip.
All the three models of the OnePlus 8 series may come with 120Hz refresh rate supporting punch-hole screens.
For the software, these smartphones will run on Android 10 topped with OnePlus’ customised skin OxygenOS.
